The Health and Safety Authority requests comments and observations on the proposals for the draft Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Onshore and Offshore Drilling) Regulations 2014, prior to submission of the proposals to the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mr. Richard Bruton, for his consideration.

The purpose of these Regulations is to create modern relevant legislation that continues to transpose and give effect to Council Directive 92/91/EEC. In this proposal large sections of outdated and anomalous provisions of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Extractive Industries) Regulations 1997 have been removed, and the remaining provisions are updated to create revised Regulations which are renamed as the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Onshore and Offshore Drilling) Regulations.

It is proposed that upon completion of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Onshore and Offshore Drilling) Regulations that the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Extractive Industries) Regulations 1997 can be revoked..
