| Draft 'Code of Practice for Safety in Roofwork' | |
|
The Health and Safety Authority has developed a draft Code of Practice entitled “Code of Practice for Safety in Roofwork”, which it intends to publish in accordance with section 60 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (No. 10 of 2005). The code of practice gives practical guidance to roofing companies, clients, designers, project supervisors (design and construction stages), safety representatives, anyone carrying out roofwork, safety consultants and advisors on the requirements and prohibitions set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005; Safety, Health and Welfare at work (Construction) Regulations 2006; and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007. The aim of the code of practice is to improve the level of safety with which roof work is carried out. In particular, it aims to reduce the incidence of falls from or through roofs during their construction and after they have been constructed. The text of the draft Code of Practice can be downloaded as a PDF document .
The Health and Safety Authority invites comments and observations on the draft Code of Practice.
